A woman in her 40s has been found dead at a property in Union Street.
Police were called to a flat on the busy road in Plymouth at about 8.30am today. Officers say the death is not believed to be suspicious and is currently being treated as unexplained.
Five police cars and an ambulance vehicle were called to the property, which has been cordoned off.
One officer at the scene said the death is thought to have been caused by a “medical episode”.
A full post mortem will be carried out in due course.
Officers are attempting to contact the woman’s next of kin.
A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were notified at around 8.30am this morning to a concern of welfare for a woman at a property on Union Street, Plymouth.
“A woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The death is currently being treated at unexplained.
“A cordon has been set up at the scene whilst scenes of crime officers investigate.
“The woman’s next of kin are being informed, although formal identification has yet to take place.”
Paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that paramedics did attend but did not treat anyone.
No arrests have been made.
