Following the tragic news that a man’s body was found on the A45 Sunday night, a diversion is in place due to the road closure.

The stretch of the A45 between Pickford Green and Meriden has been closed since 7pm Sunday (11 March) night.

Motorists are following a police diversion, which is the simplest route to take to get back onto the main carriageway.

They are being taken through the village, onto Maxstoke Lane, right at the roundabout and back onto the A45.

Congestion is building through Meriden as the normal traffic flow from the A45 is being carried through the small village.

There was heavy traffic building throughout the morning on Meriden Hill, Main Road westbound between A45 Birmingham Road and Somers Road.

It follows the sad news that a man was confirmed dead on scene Sunday night after emergency services were called to reports of a man in the road.

One ambulance and one paramedic officer attended, but nothing could be done to save the man.

A spokesman for WMAS said: “We were called at 7.26pm to reports of a person in the road.

“One ambulance and one paramedic officer attended.

“Sadly we confirmed the death of a male on scene.”

Warwickshire Police are treating the death as unexplained.

A spokesman for the force said: “A body was found on the road and the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and police are appealing for anyone who saw a pedestrian in the area to come forward.

“The road remains closed westbound near to the Maxstoke Lane junction.

“Anyone who has any information which could help police is asked to call 101 quoting incident 328 of 11 March.”
