Los Blancos are huge admirers of the Paris St Germain striker and have made him their top target this summer.
Speaking at the Ballon d’Or award, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said: ‘It’s difficult to see who will take the leadership away from Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi. Being at Madrid would make it easier for Neymar to win it [the Ballon d’Or]. Madrid is a club that gives big players what they need.’
But the Spanish club are aware that convincing PSG to sell the Brazilian just a year after they signed him for a world record fee of £198million will not be simple. The Ligue 1 club’s president said last month that Neymar joining Real Madrid was ‘impossible’.
However, offering Ronaldo plus cash in exchange could change things and according to Spanish radio station Cadena SER that’s what Real Madrid are prepared to do.
PSG have long been linked with the Portuguese forward, who is growing increasingly restless at the Bernabeu according to reports.
Cadena SER add that Real Madrid will wait until after the World Cup to begin negotiations.
Real Madrid will come up against Neymar next month with the Spanish outfit facing PSG in the Round of 16 stage of the Champions League.
