This year, in recognition of the Christmas Holidays and the arrival of jolly ole Saint Nick, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) will be offering a unique, behind the scenes look at our annual Christmas Eve interactions with the “Big Guy” himself… Santa Claus.
A release from the HCSO emailed to NewsChannel 9 says “Since our founding in 1819, now almost 200 years ago, every Christmas Eve, men and women of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office have covertly interacted with Santa Claus in some way, shape or form to help him carry out his mission. A lot of things have changed since 1819, as our deputies don’t have to ride horse and carriages anymore and our nation’s 5th president, James Monroe, has long since passed away. Thanks to the modern patrol SUV, a trip patrolling the county rarely requires our deputies to have to sleep out under the stars and we now have indoor plumbing in our patrol stations. But despite all the things that have changed, there is one thing that has not… Our mission and commitment to help jolly ole St. Nick bring toys and joy to all of Hamilton County’s good little boys and girls.
“Every year, our deputies and dispatchers receive dozens of calls referencing unusual activity going on in and around our county on Christmas Eve. Our deputies have affectionately dubbed these unique calls, “The Santa Files.” Up to this point, these files have been “classified” in order to protect the anonymity and operations of the man in red… From reports of suspicious noises on rooftops to unexplained red flashes of light in the night’s sky, there’s nothing our deputies haven’t experienced on this most magical of nights.
“For the first time ever, the HCSO, with a little Christmas magic from our partners at the 911 Communications Center, will immediately release the 911 tapes of our deputies interacting with Santa Claus as he makes his enchanted journey throughout Hamilton County!
“Thursday night at 7:30 pm, the Sheriff’s Office will release a Santa Files Promotional Video featuring Sheriff Hammond and Santa Claus on our Facebook page.
“Parents, on Christmas Eve, please routinely check our Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page at the link above during the hours of 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm as we share 911 calls from various incidents our deputies find themselves in while attempting to navigate the fairy-tale world of Santa Claus.
“No matter what unexplained things you hear or see on Christmas Eve, have no fear, for we know who’s been naughty and we know who’s been nice, and our deputies have your back for goodness sake.
On Friday evening, the HCSO released a special video message from Sheriff Jim Hammond about mysteriously merry events headed our way!
