Whether it’s helping host the Grand National at Aintree, or spending the summer working at Knowsley Safari Park, there are vacancies to suit every job-hunter.

We rounded up nine amazing jobs on offer in Liverpool and beyond – from store managers at Aldi to waiting staff at a Wirral gastropub owned by Simon Rimmer.

Grand National 2018 staff

With the Grand National just a few months away, G4S is recruiting staff to work at one of the biggest events of the year.

This year’s Grand National will take place over the weekend of April 12-14.

The roles being advertised are for customer care event stewards, who will need to help visitors to Aintree in a number of ways.

Responsibilities include ticket checking, directing race-goers, crowd monitoring, hospitality and car park stewarding.

Applicants do not need an SIA License to work at this event, or any previous experience, as full training will be provided.

You must be at least 18 years old to apply.

Seasonal staff at Knowsley Safari Park

Knowsley Safari Park are looking for seasonal staff members for 2018 – and it could be the perfect summer job for animal lovers.

Applicants need to be able to “smile, display enthusiasm and initiative and engage with children and adults”.

There are currently a number of vacancies for ride staff, restaurant staff, stewards and reception team members.

Successful candidates will need to work on a “flexible basis” and hours will vary depending on the time of the year.

Workdays will include weekdays, weekends, Bank Holidays and school holidays.

Applicants need to be over 18 and available to attend an assessment centre on January 27.

Store manager at Aldi

Aldi are recruiting store managers to work in their Merseyside supermarkets – and the salaries are absolutely incredible.

The supermarket giant is looking to take on new store managers on a permanent basis, for a long list of stores across Merseyside.

You might be surprised how much store managers make at Aldi – with salaries up to £57,000 after four years with the company.

The role involves working a 48-hour week over five days, including weekends, on a starting salary of £43,750.

Applicants need to have managed teams of over eight people in the past and have experience with company property, sales figures and people performance.

If your new year’s resolution was to make a career change then you might be in luck – Lancashire Police is looking to take on 200 new police officers.

Recruitment opened on January 4 and the force will be taking applications until January 19.

Lancashire Police is looking for people “from a wide range of backgrounds” and with the right “life experience and skills” to be able to solve problems on the streets.

While the roles aren’t based in Merseyside, many of the jobs will be within a commutable distance of Liverpool.

Successful applicants will be notified during the week starting Febuary 5, before being invited to the national assessment centre between March 12 and 22.

Interviews and fitness tests will be carried out in April and May, before pre-employment checks including medical checks, vetting, references, attendance checks and business interests enquiries from May onwards.

Final offers of appointment will be made from June onwards and training is set to commence from late 2018 into 2019.

Spitroast on Smithdown Road is a busy little restaurant that’s incredibly popular with chicken connoisseurs.

The tiny restaurant found a recipe for success with a fiendishly simple menu – customers choose a cut of rotisserie chicken and add on as many sides as they want.

Now Spitroast is looking for a “keen and motivated individual” with waiting experience.

An online advert for the vacancy promises “good pay, holidays and share of tips”.

The Viking is a cosy gastropub in West Kirby, serving up rustic pub food and craft drinks.

Owned last year, the gastropub is owned by celebrity chef and Strictly star Simon Rimmer.

With breakfasts served from 9am and a range of new dishes each season, the Viking boasts a busy restaurant with a loyal clientele.

The pub needs new waiting staff on a part-time and full-time basis.

An online advert for the vacancy calls for floor servers ages 18 and over.

Previous experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be given to successful candidates.

The job advert promises pay above the minimum wage and “outrageous” tips.

Seasonal staff at Alton Towers

Alton Towers is looking for hundreds of new staff to work the 2018 season – and the dream summer jobs come with free theme park passes.

Current vacancies include ride hosts, performers, retail assistants, chefs, restaurant staff and managers.

Staff benefits include “Merlin Magic passes” that offer free entry to the park, as well as fortnightly pay, employee travel and career development opportunities.

The Staffordshire-based theme park starts the summer season on March 17, and they’re hosting a huge recruitment drive to find temporary staff.

A recruitment fair is taking place at The Quality Hotel, on Trinity Street in Hanley, between 10am and 5pm on Friday, January 12.

Staff from the amusement resort will be there to answer any questions from applications, and short interviews will take place on the day.

Fixed term and permanent vacancies are available, and applicants are asked to bring their proof of right to work in the UK along to the recruitment fair.

Dobbies garden centres is looking for a bakery assistant to start working at their Speke Hall Road branch.

The role involves working alongside the bakers in all areas of food production and preparation.

Duties include helping to prepare and replenishment the store’s breads, rolls, pastries and cakes to be sold in the ‘bakery to go’ section of the foodhall.

Holding a relevant food safety qualification would be an advantage for applicants.

Staff at Dobbie’s get an employee discount and full training will be provided for the role.

Bartender for Signature Living

Signature Living are looking for bartenders to serve guests at their aparthotels.

The role involves taking orders for drinks and snacks, mixing drinks and cocktails and making recommendations for guests.

Staff also need to keep the bar clean and tidy, as well as restocking the bar and taking on other duties when assigned by hotel management.

The position pays up to £7.50 per hour, with the addition of “great tips.”
