A WOMAN’S body has been found washed up on an East Sussex beach this morning.

A member of the public made the grim discovery, with police investigators since fearing that the body had been in the water for up to three days before being found.

The discovery has now sparked a police investigation, with the woman’s death being treated as “unexplained”.

Her body was found washed up in Normans Bay, Pevenesey, East Sussex about 9am Saturday.

Sussex Police said: “Officers were called to Normans Bay after a body was found.

“Her next of kin have not yet been informed. It’s not being treated as suspicious but remains unexplained at this time.”

The woman is believed to have been in her 50s or 60s.

The coastguard had alerted police.
